Now in its fifth edition, the burgeoning Art Düsseldorf fair returns next week with an expanded list of participating galleries and a curatorial lineup. The fair is best known for its diverse yet focused presentations that highlight recent art history and connect to the context in which the fair takes place. Held in the former Areal Böhler steelworks, the fair is located in a city landmark, and the open, industrial architecture allows for a unique and bright art-viewing experience.

In addition to the existing section of the fair’s main gallery, with the 2023 edition Art Düsseldorf is creating two new sections, Next and Solo Projects. Next is aimed at galleries that promote emerging artists and have been in existence for less than ten years, ensuring a new generation of galleries with large-scale support and visibility. Solo Projects will host presentations by unique artists who address one of the three themes dedicated to the fair: sustainability, diversity or Rhine connections. Together, these new curated sections reinforce the fair’s ongoing mission to continually evolve and meet the needs of the contemporary art world.

Commenting on the direction of the next edition, Walter Gehlen, fair director, said: “The Art Düsseldorf team attaches great importance to a diverse and attractive program. We communicate this regularly in our contacts with galleries and, in return, we receive very open feedback. We are happy to have succeeded in putting together such a diverse and multifaceted program.

For those unable to attend the fair, Art Düsseldorf publishes a digital magazine featuring artist and gallery profiles, as well as a guide to art in the city and essays on current world topics art, such as art and climate change and discourse around the online art world. .

Art Dusseldorf will take place from Friday March 31 to Sunday April 2, 2023.
