The editors of art forum And The nation are pleased to announce the continuation of Reading forum under the direction of The nation start this summer. The first issue of the relaunched quarterly will appear in August 2023.
Founded in 1994 as a sister literary publication of art forumBsearchforum has become one of the leading voices of literary criticism, covering the best of new fiction, non-fiction, current affairs and arts titles. Considered “a vital indicator of book culture” by the new yorker and a “refuge from culture war and diminishing standards of intellectual discourse” by The Washington Post, Reading forum has long given space to spotlight emerging authors and offer new interpretations of classic works.
art forumthe contemporary art world’s preeminent publication since 1962, was acquired as a standalone publication by Penske Media Corporation (PMC) in December 2022; Reading forum was not part of this acquisition.
Founded in 1865 and a longtime leading voice in progressive advocacy, news, opinion and analysis, The nation will facilitate the pursuit of Reading forum in the spirit of advancing and honoring the quarterly publication’s legacy, voice and dedicated community of writers and readers.
Under the direction of Nation President Bhaskar Sunkara and Editorial Director and Publisher Katrina venden Heuvel, The nation will acquire Reading forumthe magazine’s archives and intellectual property and the publication of CVs with all of the magazine’s existing editorial team. Editorial operations will remain separate from The nationwhich will continue to publish its award-winning books and arts section at the back of the book and on TheNation.com.
