Directed by Amanda Kim, the documentary traces Paik’s life from his childhood in Japanese-occupied Korea and his formative upbringing in Germany to his rise on the New York art scene and beyond. Paik is considered one of the most influential artists of Korean descent. His most notable works include “tv buddha» (1974) and «Hello Mr. Orwell(1984).
Inspired by the changing relationship between humanity and technology, Paik saw a future in which “everyone will have their own television channel”. With the advent of social media and the rise of platforms like YouTube and TikTok, his vision for the future looks surprisingly similar to the present.
