Sometimes it seems like everyone living on planet Earth is a Swiftie – yes, that’s the term for a Taylor Swift fan (after all, what’s not to love, de Empty space For Anti-hero). All Swifties can now rejoice to hear that the Museum of Arts and Design in New York has launched an exhibition of Taylor “artifacts” (Taylor Swift: Storyteller, until September 4) with costumes, props and jewelry as well as a painting of the singer’s cat, known as Benjamin Button, who – don’t blink or you’ll miss it – features in the video for 2019 Lover (the adorable moggie, looking out of the canvas, is depicted by an unknown artist after Artnet News). A blurb from the museum says other highlights include the cheerleader and ballerina sets from the video for Shake (2014) and the sparkling outfit of Bejeweled (2022), directed by the pop star herself. Museum exhibit – standard admission $25 – cleverly coincides with Swift’s world record Ages tour (we hear Taylor’s management were particularly impressed with previous exposure to the institution, including Queer Maximalism x Machine Dazzlehence the rapid turnaround in the organization of the smorgasbord Swift).
