Along with the annual New York Art Book Fair, this event is a premier international gathering for artist book distribution, celebrating the breadth of the art publishing community.
Taking place at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in downtown Los Angeles from August 10-13, LAABF 2023 features 300+ international publishersnew initiatives highlighting books by artists from Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region (including many publishers traveling to Los Angeles for the first time), collaborations with ICA LA and Hauser & Wirth Publishers, and a schedule of programs focused on Los Angeles-based artists and community projects.
Show programming includes The Classroom, a space for artists, writers, designers and publishers to shine a light on what’s new and discuss important themes in artist book publishing. Star Feliz, Harmony Holiday, La Pocha Nostra, Anuradha Vikram and John C. Welchman are participating in this year’s Classroom, organized in collaboration with David Senior, Director of Library and Archives at SFMOMA.
