The arts journal is looking for an Associate Digital Editor to join its dynamic team of London-based online journalists and editors. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience writing and editing content with precision and speed. An ability to work well under deadlines and under pressure is essential.
The Associate Digital Editor will work closely with the Digital Editor to manage the busy website covering international art news.
The salary is £32,000.
Main responsibilities
- Work with the digital editor to edit articles for the website
- Follow and maintain editorial standards according to The arts journalstyle guide
- Presentation and writing of articles in all sections of the publication
- Help organize the website homepage and facades
- Closely follow artistic news online and identify important stories and trends for the commission
- Contribute to special projects, including fair trade dailies, regional focuses and investigative reports
- Oversee and develop our social media channels
- Assistance with the publication of newsletters
Key skills and experience
- At least three years of experience in a similar editorial role
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, with excellent organizational skills
- Excellent short stories and analytical writing skills, with accurate grammar
- Experience using CMS software to write, edit and publish articles online
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to deal effectively with colleagues and correspondents
- Experience using social media for business
- Understanding of journalistic standards, ethics and professional practice
- Good working knowledge of InDesign and basic Photoshop skills preferred but not essential
- Degree in journalism or art history
