Exhibition announcement
Presented until October 1 at the Jewish Museum in New York, this exhibition presents works by 47 contemporary artists produced between 1963 and 2023.
After “The Wild”: Contemporary Art from the Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation Collection features works by 47 contemporary artists between 1963 and 2023, part of a gift made to the Jewish Museum by the Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation.
Barnett Newman (1905-1970) is one of the most influential artists associated with Abstract Expressionism. After his death, his widow Annalee Newman established the foundation to help promote the spirit of the great art he exhibited, providing grants from 2004 to 2020. Diverse in style, training, background and age, the grantees of the foundation – whose works comprise this exhibit – share the seriousness of Newman’s goals, as well as his unwavering willingness to explore the outer limits of his own ideas.
See works by Lynda Benglis, Melvin Edwards, Cai Guo-Qiang, Joan Jonas, Kerry James Marshall, Julie Mehretu, Judy Pfaff, Sarah Sze, Fred Tomaselli, and Terry Winters, among others.
After “The Savage” is on view until October 1 at jewish museum At New York.
