The second edition of Onassis Stegithe digital art exhibition, Plasmata II: Ioannina, poses a series of critical questions: Can we talk about digital without locking ourselves into the form imposed by the screens? Can we talk about technology through the notions of local and mythical, of nature and tradition? Can technology become the trigger to grant a voice to those who have none? Can we dissolve the boundaries between the natural and the artificial and, at the same time, learn from both?
After last year’s edition in Athens and Pedion tou Areos, where Plasmata captivated Athenian audiences with over 400,000 visitors, the show is now presented in the historic city of Ioannina, Greece. Until July 9, you are invited to a large exhibition on the city’s lake road featuring digital works and installations by Greek and international artists, as well as concerts and DJ sets, workshops, talks , educational programs, tours and Radio MovementStegi’s 24-hour online radio, which will broadcast in full.
Visit Ioannina – the historic city of letters, philanthropists and the arts – and discover how, alongside 10 monuments, the exhibition dominates the local landscape with 19 works of art that speak of digital and tradition, of the intelligence and the transformation of the reality in which we live, mythology and ecology. In a city steeped in history and stories, discover the creations of artists, designers and visionaries who dialogue with the past while looking to the future.
In Ioannina, we follow new routes and symbioses on the edge of the city and Lake Pamvotida. We address supra-local issues through local expression; derive knowledge from ecosystems; to become transformed and transform to our end; and finding time to look at ourselves and everyone around us, challenging the boundaries between nature, technology and culture.
