THE New association of art dealers (NADA) is set to return with its ninth edition of NADA New York this month, from May 18 to May 21, 2023. The annual fair will welcome 88 exhibitors – galleries, arts spaces and non-profit organizations – of which 53 are NADA members and 31 are first-time attendees. The upcoming fair promises to be one of the most diverse, with exhibitors coming from 17 countries and 37 cities, ranging from Copenhagen to Detroit, Lima to Seoul and, of course, with strong representation from New York-based galleries. Also of note, NADA New York will take place this year at a new location in the West Chelsea gallery district at 548 West 22nd Street. The heart of the city’s vibrant art scene serves as the proverbial backdrop for the fair, providing visitors with a full artistic experience. NADA Executive Director Heather Hubbs said, “New York City is a global art center and our home base as an association of galleries. We are delighted to continue to present key voices and unique presentations in contemporary art and look forward to welcoming visitors to our new location for our ninth edition in May.
Visitors to the fair can expect a series of intriguing solo presentations from returning galleries, such as Sebastian Gladstone, with works by Tristan Unrau; the artist María Lulu Varona in Embajada; and Pat McCarthy showing with the entry. The Hole will feature the work of Matt Belk in an immersive hunting cabin installation featuring the artist’s airbrush paintings. New exhibitors also provide an exciting opportunity to explore and discover new contemporary artists. Curro, from Guadalajara, will present works by Alejandro Almanza Pereda, Claudia Peña Salinas and Juan Capistrán; Rebecca Camacho Presents, from San Francisco, will present ektor garcia and Marie Herwald Hermann; and Miami-based publisher Dale Zine will feature the work of Kelly Breez.
Coinciding with the fair, NADA Presents, NADA’s flagship program series, will include public dialogues, performances and events that use the fair and the art on display as touchstones for larger conversations.
