The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University features thesis work of 23 graduates of the MFA program. On view May 5-21 at Tufts University Art Galleries in Medford, Massachusetts, Been here before is curated by guest curators Jasper A. Sanchez and Michaela Blanc.

This exhibit reflects ideas of home, family structures and cultural ties; intimacy, invisible work and care; memory and belief systems; self-projections, feminist practices and other investigative processes that redefine ideas of place and belonging.

In the words of the graduate artists, “Been here before is based on the thought of returning or revisiting, whether it is a return home, a return to previous ideas, revisiting constructions that predate our time, or even revisiting memories. Visitors will encounter a multidisciplinary presentation of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance, showing how each artist expanded their practice in the MFA program while learning together.

A closing public reception will be held at Tufts University Art Galleries on May 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will feature performances and scheduled activations by graduate artists.
