Marcel Breuer on Madison Avenue and in his current Renzo Piano-designed home in the Meatpacking District. As for the reasoning behind the price hike, the press release cites “inflation, rising costs, and still-recovering attendance,” noting that museum membership fees and free and discounted programs remain unchanged. .
This news comes just over a month after the Whitney sold his building Breuer at Sotheby’s for $100 million. It has been four months since museum workers ratified their first union contract with the Whitneys and Scott Rothkopf took over the management of the establishment.
