Visionary Art Collective (VAC) is thrilled to announce its first in-person exhibition in New York, The lens through which we see, featuring six contemporary landscape artists: Bri Custer, Colleen Gleason Shull, Julie Avisar, Ekaterina Popova, Amanda Hawkins and Sarah Boyle. Each intends to capture the beauty of the natural world while conveying a deeper truth, filtering its observations through emotion and memory. The resulting paintings are both a celebration of the earth and the artist’s interiority, providing a place for the interplay of perceived reality and personal understanding. Although deeply tied to a physical place, the work aims for transcendence, moving beyond what is seen towards what is felt. By paying particular attention to each scene and what it evokes, the artists combine the observable universe with individual experience.
Based in New York, Visionary Art Collective is a contemporary art and artist development company that elevates artists through magazines, exhibitions, podcast interviews and mentorship programs. Beginning as a blog in 2020 with artist interviews, VAC has since grown to collaborate with top curators and gallerists, and has worked with thousands of artists around the world.
The opening reception will be held April 20 from 6-8 p.m. ET at 72 Warren Street in Manhattan. The exhibition is visible from April 20 to April 27. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After April 27, private tours will be available at the VAC Brooklyn office by appointment only.
