A collection of drawings, studies, small paintings and poems opens a new window on the inner life of Dora Maar: her parents, her friends, her cat, her obsession with alarm clocks, Picasso, her relationship to faith. A myriad of secret moments of a life explored and sketched in his diaries.

Under the care of Creative Tech, this collection will be seen for the first time. Use various technologies to highlight the works, Dora Maar, Workshop Secrets invites the viewer to the inner struggle of the artist, the two faces of Janus, his withdrawal and his openness to the world, and the journey between the different periods of his life.

The exhibition is presented at The Mobthe visitor center and the gallery of the Dora Maar House. La Mob’s mission is to celebrate the creative life of our artists in residence and the life of Dora Maar, the first resident and our beloved ghost. Throughout her travels on a Mobylette and in the pages of her notebooks, she has traced the path of the many artists who have followed in her footsteps.

Since 2007, the Dora Maar House welcomed mid-career artists, writers and humanities professionals to the Nancy Brown Negley Artist Residency Program in the south of France. The program runs from March to November each year, with the application cycle open the previous year. Each selected fellow receives a one to two month residency, stipend and travel grant to focus on a specific project while living at Maison Dora Maar and enjoying the beautiful village of Ménerbes and its international and artistic community .
