Movie star Owen Wilson is channeling Bob Ross, the late and legendary 1980s TV painter loved by millions, in a new film called Painting due out next month. Ross, dubbed the King of Kitsch, was the star of The Joy of Painting on PBS from 1983 to 1994, winning fans with inspirational sayings such as: “There are no mistakes, just accidents happy”. Wilson plays Carl Nargle, a TV art instructor who loves telling everyone how to paint dreamscapes (just like Ross). Nargle’s TV stardom is overshadowed, however, by a young rival called Ambrosia Long, played by Ciara Renée. “Vermont’s number one public television painter is convinced he’s got it all: a signature permanent, a custom van, and fans hung with his every shot…until a younger, better artist steals it all. (and everyone) that Carl loves,” a voiceover says in the film. trailer. Sounds ominous, so let’s give Ross the final word: “Have you ever made any mistakes in life? Let’s make them birds.
